Wait... what's wrong with the watches you buy at the drugstore?

A couple of times on my blogs already I've mentioned how a watch can make a perfect gift for almost anyone -- for a wife or girlfriend (but not both, Tiger!) a watch serves as a nice piece of everyday jewelry, fancy but functional, so it can be a little romance (which the ladies like) and a little useful (which guys like.)

You may think that a watch has to be for someone REALLY special, because nice watches -- and by "nice" I mean "Not the kind you buy at the drug store"-- cost a lot of money. But you'd be wrong. You can get GREAT watches for not-as-much-as-you'd-think, which is a price I like.

You can get those great titanium watch at Blue Dial.com; the one I've picked out here is an example of not only a great watch, the Wenger by Swiss Army Men's Titanium, a water-resistant, 3-year-warrantied high caliber watch, but a great price, because you can pick that watch up for only $135 now, marked down from $325. That's more than 50% off the price, which means that watches like this one are available not just to give that high-ranking person on your list (Queen of England, Pope) but also the people a little further down, like, say, "Your Boss," who's down at the bottom but needs to get a good gift if you're going to make partner in 2010. Give him THAT watch, and everytime he wears it, whenever he looks to see what time it is, he'll think:

"Man, that's a nice watch."

"Man, that was a nice present to give me."

"Man, I should promote that guy to partner and give him a bigger office. Plus a raise. Plus three more weeks of vacation."

That's what's nice about a watch: It's not just something nice and decorative, but it's a gift that the recipient will keep on wearing and using, every day, and the recipient will then promote you. Right? Right.

Also: If you're reading this and you're one of my subordinates, remember that (a) I like watches, too, and (b) Once I'm a partner, I'll have the ability to promote you.
